Women in Morocco
There are two kinds of women in Morocco : the tourists and the Moroccans. When I was there, I found myself between the two categories because I'm African and I live in Europe so the men of there had respect and kindness for me because I come from Europe. But at the same time, I felt ashamed when they looked badly at me. The reason of their behaviour is beacause of my way of wearing and my way of living : I was always wearing very tight clothes and I smiled to everyone. I felt like an emancipated African woman.
The Morrocan women are very dicreet, they wear simple clothes (very large clothes) and they never smile to men, and it's very rare to see them putting their eyes on men because it's like an invitation to have sex with them. The very important moment of my trip is when I had free time in Marrakech and when I got henna tattoo because I spoke to these women who « painted » my body, we talked about life and they told me their misfortunates : they could not marry the man that they loved, they got married very young and many of them were left by their husbands. Finally, I discovered that there, women are seen like life givers. They are needed just to make babies and they are thrown like old papers.
I felt very sad when a mother told me that she had to feed her children with the small amount of money that she gained when she made henna tattoos.
