The Marrakech receipt

During our travel to Morocco, we stayed four days in Marrakech. It is my favourite city. Lots of my school-fellows have writen about food...It's a good thing because Marrakech is like a dish...
The receipt is more difficult than for a tajine.

To make a good Marrakech you need:

- A lot of different people: Thousands and thousands of poor, one or two princes of Saudi Arabia, as many taxis and animal species as you want with the sister of the king and some rich Europeans.
- Shantytown and villas of all kinds and all sizes: from the small tents of beggars to the palace of Zidane.
- All the Europeans cars of the 40's and some carts draw by donkeys.
- Some butcheries without refrigator and a few wonderfull places like "Les jardins Majorelle" or the palm plantation.
- keep a place to your imagination...

To begin you must shake all the elements in a big bag and pour the mixture to have a little of all everywhere.

Tip: Don't be afraid to put as many small shops as possible especially in the souk. It's must be like a big capharaeum.

The most difficult part is to succeed the Jemaa el Fna square. It's the heart of the city.
-Take a large place, the background is a beautiful minaret with a loudspeaker which owls the prayer each hour.
-Put many merchants of all kinds. (They have to seem friendly but they have to try to swindle everybody. It's due to the climate).
-Powder the place with a few storytellers and snake charmers.Drown all under a tide of tourists.
-You have to cook the wish in 50 degrees during a whole night.

The result is surprising!!! It's a pleasant city to meet people, drink tea or to make business. At night, the Jemaa El Fna square is the most amazing crossroad of cultures.
If you want to dream about the tales of the 1001 nights it is made for you...

There are still a lot of think to tell about Marrakech but it will be for another time!

You are confusing "receipt" with "recipe"! Tell me what the difference is!
